I received an early phone call on Christmas Eve regarding a flooding incident at Peacock’s clothing store in Redruth. Within 30 minutes I was on site unloading the van to start the clean up exercise. It wasn’t long before the water which had flooded 50% of the shop floor was pumped out and dried. By 11 o’clock the flooded section of the shop was ready for reopening in time for those last minute Christmas shoppers.
We have, over the last day received unprecedented levels of rainfall, driven by gale force winds. More wet and windy weather is expected over the next week.
In premises prone to flooding please make sure you take all necessary precautions to prevent flooding, such as putting sandbags in appropriate places to hold back potential floodwater and to keep all drains free of leaves and detritus.
